OneOpp Outreach: Leimert Park Events | Q3 2023
Creative Direction for two client events under a community outreach partnership initiative created by the company. The initiative allowed us to work as an agency and extend services for non-profit community organizations that normally can’t afford such services. These organizations provide platforms and other benefits for underserved communities/neighborhoods. I helped with two of the three summer events: the Leimert Park Jazz Festival and the Black to the Future Conference by TEC Leimert.
THE CHALLENGE: Creating a consistent branding aesthetic for each festival and a content rollout strategy to attract more attendees and elevate the storytelling of each respective event. Giving specific looks and design systems to call out featured vendors, profile artists, speakers and organizers as well as digital assets to be posted during and after the events to extend the digital conversation well beyond the event dates.
For the Leimert Park Jazz Festival, I gave art direction for the pitch deck and creative templates for the social assets. Along with my team, I developed the creative ideas for the social content concepts that the creative would accompany. Because of quick turnarounds I ended up designing most of the social assets. I also oversaw the content capture at the event for recaps and live posting. These assets lived across Instagram and Facebook.
For Black to the Future, I oversaw and guided our Art Director to create the branding for this year’s conference. The goal was to make something that looked very different from previous years and the client was pleased with our idea. Besides the look and feel for visuals, I worked alongside the team to come up with various content concepts to promote the event across different platforms. The visual styles were applied to those assets, which were used across Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.
